Kotputli Assembly Constituency

Kotputli Assembly constituency is one of the 200 constituencies of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in India. It forms part of the Jaipur district and is included in the Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha constituency. Kotputli is known for its strategic location on the Delhi–Jaipur National Highway (NH-48) and serves as an important commercial and administrative hub for the northern part of the district.

Overview

Kotputli constituency has a mixed urban–rural composition and plays a significant role in the politics of northern Rajasthan. The region includes parts of the Kotputli tehsil, covering ILRC Kotputli, Narheda, and Dantil, along with several villages and gram panchayats.
The constituency is considered Gurjar-dominant, with a sizable population from the Gurjar community—estimated at around 60,000 voters—along with Rajputs, Jats, Brahmins, and Scheduled Castes forming the rest of the electorate.

Demographics and Economy

Agriculture remains the mainstay of the local economy, supported by small-scale industries and growing urban trade. Major crops include wheat, mustard, and bajra. Proximity to Haryana and Delhi influences employment patterns, with many residents engaged in transport, logistics, and industrial work in nearby states.
Kotputli also hosts a large cement plant and several industrial units under the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), contributing to regional employment.

Political Significance

Kotputli has witnessed frequent political shifts between the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Local leadership and caste equations often play a decisive role in election outcomes.
The constituency has produced several notable political figures, including former ministers and legislators influential in Jaipur district politics.
